Fine Art Duplication and Copyright
FixYourPhoto assumes that all art you bring in you either have the permission to alter or the copyright for. We will not accept work reprinting items that are copyrighted to someone else. The only exception are for things that may be copyrighted but that cannot be replaced, such as autographed pieces. In the case of autographed pieces it should be noted that the restored and printed piece does not hold the same value as the original autograph.

    If you are an art collector you may consider getting permission from the original artist to make one replica of the art piece for display in your home, while storing the original in a safe environment (such as a fire proof safe). Normally as long as you conceit not to sell the replica artists have no such problem with such precautions. This would help not only preserve the original from the ware and tear of being displayed, but will also help protect it from theft and fire. It is important that whatever agreement with the original artist you make is kept however as unless you sign a specific contract resigning the copyright to you, the piece will remain copyright of the original artist by law.
