Adjust
Color
Color
adjustment
may become desirable when a photograph, document or art piece begins
to loose it's original colors. This can happen for a number of
reasons, the most common of which is the general aging of the piece.
Color adjustment can also be done to fix images that were over or
underexposed or one's that didn't have the proper white balance.
These images are easy to spot as the colors look fake or tinted,
usually yellow tinges if a camera is not adjusted to indoor lighting.
While normally color adjustment is a relatively simple task there
are some cases in which the currently existing colors are so off
their intended coloring that the image needs to be painted from
scratch.
Adjust
Levels-Contrast
The
need for the adjustment of levels and contrast in a piece arises
chiefly from the same causes as discoloration. Similarly level
adjustment is normally a quick task for our trained photo repair
technicians, however some rare cases do appear where the image is so
distorted by the displacement of the contrast levels that it requires
a very delicate touch. Level adjustment is also commonly done as part
of colorizing grayscale (popularly called black and white) images.
Crop
Cropping
an image is often done when an artistic eye notices that a piece
would be in better balance and more visually appealing if it were
better focused in on one part of the piece. Cropping is also
done when a customer wishes to focus in on a particular person in a
group photograph.
Straighten
While
this may sound like a strange concept at first, there are many pieces
that have benefited from being straightened. Normally
when we look at an image we want to see the buildings standing
straight, and the horizon appearing straight across. Sometimes
this doesn't happen when we think we've captured an image as a proper
capture of it's real state. There is no need to fret though, normally
straightening an image can be done with relative ease by our talented
staff.
Repairing
Tears
Tears
happen, and almost always it's on complete accident.
This is especially true of older images, or ones that have been up
for display. For documents the chance of being torn is even higher,
especially depending on the type of paper it was authored on. Some
tears are minor and easy to repair, others require major photo
surgery to reestablish the image to it's former glory.
Repairing
Fold Lines
Folds
are almost guaranteed for images that aren't stored correctly or for
documents not carefully preserved. Folded corners, folds down the
middle, folds as a result from exhausting in a shoe box or being
squashed between the pages of a book. While some fold marks aren't
mild most can be extremely damaging. For these more determined folds
often our photo technicians have to replace missing portions of the
piece.
Fire
Damage
Most
people are unaware that the restoration of documents and photographs
may very well be covered by your renters, or owner's insurance. Even
if the flames don't directly reach the piece, the heat from the smoke
alone can cause chemicals in photographs to warp the image.
Fortunately
our team is experienced at reversing the effect of fire on a
photograph, document or art piece. This tends to be a time consuming
process, but that's only because our photo technicians take the time
of an artisan to make the image as close to exactly the way it was
before as possible.
Water
Damage
Unlike
fire most people have no idea what water can do to a photograph,
document, or art piece.
Even if the water itself doesn't warp the image, or lead to the
dissolving of more delicate paper documents, the moisture alone can
lead to damaging results. It can come as a disappointing surprise
when one notices mold starting to grow on your cherished memories.
Mold
Damage
Mold
is often the result from not acting on water damage to a photograph,
document or art piece. It can be one of the disappointing things to
gaze back on a piece you thought had been spared from the damages of
water only to find it was a just an elongated damage. If you've
noticed the start of mold the best mode of action is to bring it in
right away before it spreads more and with it the damage.
Chemical
Damage
You'd
be surprised about the amount of things that can tarnish, and destroy
a photograph, art piece or document. Most chemical
damage
is done by complete accident, but that doesn't mean the damage can't
be severe.
Marker
and Pen Damage
Marker,
pen and ink damage
can often be the result of the wandering hands of tiny artisans. This
may not always be the case but it should be kept in mind that it's
extremely easy to deface art, a photograph , or any document with a
writing utensil of some sort. Lamination alone cannot protect a piece
from the follies of wandering ink.
Sun
Fading
Fading
of a piece caused by the sun is a very common
ailment for images that are displayed by windows. Most people don't
notice the damage until it's extent makes the image look almost
painfully out of color, or contrast.
Dust
Removal
Dust,
the tiny pest that's everywhere and that we can never seem to get rid
of. From specks on your memories to the tiny scratches they produce
dust can leave an annoying effect on your photographs.
Repairing
Scratches
The
range of damage caused by scratches is a drastic one. From tiny
scratches, to the defacing of the content due to extreme scratches,
the worst thing is that scratches can be very hard to prevent.
Adding
Missing Areas
Often
the need to replace, or add missing areas to a document, or
photograph is a direct result of damage caused by a tear, scratch,
fold, fire, chemical, water, or ink damage. However the need to an
area of a piece to be created comes about we have the talented team
to help you in your needs. From faces, to backgrounds, to any form of
information we can access what we can do for you.

Black
and White to Sepia
If
you've seen those old west photographs, with a tinge to them that's
normally
Sepia Tone.
Sepia tone can add a bit of flare or an antiqued feeling to an image
that really bring it to a new life.
Sepia
Photo to black and white
For
those who wish to convert their sepia toned images to black and
white we offer that service as well. Over all black and white
images have a crisper feeling about them that is very desirable for
some.
Sepia
to Color
Color
can add a whole new life to an image,
and can help capture details about the objects of the photo that
sepia intentionally blends out. Things like hair and eye color become
washed to present an old west type feel about the image, but if you'd
like to have your sepia toned images colorized we have just the team
for the job!
Color
Photo Converted to Black and White
Black
and white images (which are actually grayscale images) purposefully
remove all or most color in order to present the image in a new way.
Black and white images tend to be more dramatic and are better able
to capture composition and texture elements that often get lost in
color photographs. If
you'd like to utilize this Black and White technique to show your
memories in a new light, our talented team of photo technicians can
enhance your photograph.
Color
Photo Converted to Sepia
There
are times when a piece of photography can have an added appeal by the
muting of colors, Sepia is not as dramatic as Black and White but can
give your image a classic and antiqued look. This
technique is can also help heighten calm or romantic moods in an
image by it's overall softened contrast levels.
Add/Remove
People
Sadly
we can't control the actions of others, even when we think we've just
captured our loved ones in a snapshot we often end up with a stranger
in our picture. This can often ruin the overall feeling of a
photograph and results in a “who is that guy?” comment a
lot. Other times we know the person in the photograph but just don't
want them there anymore. Perhaps it's a third friend in a picture of
two who are soon to be married, or a former coworker haunts your
company portrait. Whatever
the case we not only have the ability and skill to remove these
people but we can also add new people to your photograph! Just
in case you'd like Grandma next to you instead of creepy cousin Eddy.
Add/Remove
Objects
While
most often we don't notice it until the shot has been taken, there
can be objects in the back ground or foreground of your image that
ruin the feel, composition or mood of the photograph. From
banners, to garbage, to odd ball objects, we can remove them as you
need. Generally
this is not an easy task and it's a good idea to let a professional
enhance your photograph so that you know it'll be done the right
time, and you won't end up with a giant blur where the object used to
be.

a photograph. Memorials for cancer victims is one such time when the
replace of lost hair on a photograph may be needed. We like to
remember our loved ones happy, and healthy, at the same time you may
feel the need to do something similar for yourself. Maybe your hair
was cut way too short and you feel it takes away from who you really
